The family of Roudi Shmaly is trying to come to terms with his tragic and unfortunate death and they are having a hard time doing so.

Shmaly, twenty-five, migrated to Antigua and Barbuda from Syria during the pandemic with one goal; he came to work to save money to return to his home country to get married.

“He was a simple guy whom everybody loved. He came to work and he worked hard and stayed out of trouble. He worked and sent home money to his fiancé. He couldn’t wait to get married to her. They had already planned their wedding and all he did was work toward that goal,” a close family friend told Antigua.news

“I don’t know how she will cope knowing what has happened to the love of her life. He was a sweetheart…a really cool person. It is unfortunate that this is the way he died. This is a real shocker”

Shmaly was shot in the head earlier today when a robber walked into the Pick and Mix Mart near the Robinson Gas Station. He was an employee at the superette.
