August 28 will not be a normal day for one man since he will be standing trial on that say for possession of a modified flare gun and one bullet.

Thirty-six-year-old Wadabe Roberts was reportedly found with the weapon on March 3 when soldiers from the Antigua and Barbuda Defense were on mobile patrol in the Villa area where he is a resident.

One officer reportedly noticed a man in a yellow hoodie running towards an alley and as a result alerted the driver who stopped the marked vehicle allowing one officer to chase after the accused.

The soldier reportedly saw the defendant throw away an orange object and then managed to apprehend the defendant.

A search was reportedly carried out in the area and what appeared to be a flare gun was found.

The gun was examined and was found to have been altered to hold bullets.

It is said to have contained one 9mm round of ammunition.

The defendant was subsequently charged for having both items with the necessary license.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges last week and was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison until the conclusion of his trial.
