Earthquake recorded near Antigua and two Caribbean islands

Yesterday, Antigua and Barbuda and the islands of St Kitts and Nevis and Guadeloupe were affected by a 3.5 magnitude earthquake. Just days before, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake rocked the twin island state and several other countries.

The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre said the quake occurred at 8:38 pm local time at a depth of 45 kilometers on Sunday.

According to the Automatic Earthquake Location from the UWI Seismic Research Centre, the quake struck:  

  • 61 km NE of Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis.
  • 62 km NW of Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda.
  • 160 km, NW of Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe.
