Teachers are receiving support from the Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union (ABWU) as they continue to protest against the government’s failure to address their concerned

The General Secretary of the ABWU told tourism workers from around the world who are gathered in the country for the ITF’s conference that teachers in Antigua and Barbuda are going through a rough time.

He said the delay in collective barraging negotiations has been a major issue for teachers on the island.

“What the government has been doing is that every time elections are coming up, they use the opportunity to talk about negotiations and after that, it does down… As part of the labour movement, this is a golden opportunity for us to show support and sound our voice to them,” he said

Meanwhile, members of the ITF’s Tourism Services Conference said they too were standing in solidarity with teachers from the Antigua & Barbuda Union of Teachers protesting today.
