A drunk man walked into a superette in Grays Hill brandishing a BB gun and held up the cashier, in an attempted robbery.
However, according to reports the 60-year-old man was accosted by a nearby villager who quickly intervened.
The villager took the weapon from the man and held him down until the police arrived.
The incident happened just before 5 pm and the man was taken into police custody
The citizen who intervened is being hailed for his quick and brave action.
Over the past few days, several small supermarkets have been robbed by masked men.
