Best April on record for A&B tourism

Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez says last month was the best April on record for Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism industry.

Fernandez told reporters Monday that the numbers surpassed the figure for April 2019, which was the previous record for the country.

Figures show that last month, cruise arrivals stood at 56,813 an 18 percent increase over April 2019 while air arrivals picked at 28,197 a 17 percent increase, compared to the same month in 2019.

By and large, Fernandez said 2023 is also on track to surpass 2019’s figures.

“We are confident that we are going to beat 2019. That is our target and we are working hard for the tourism authority. We also had art week and we added Restaurant Week,” he said
