16yr charged for killing Roudi Shmaly remanded to prison

The 16-year-old charged with killing Roudi Shmaly has been remanded to prison.

The Upper Fort Road teen appeared before the Child Justice Board this morning.

25-year-old Shmaly was killed from a gunshot wound to his head when a young man robbed the Pick ‘N Mix Mart on DeSouza Road where he worked

The incident happened shortly after 1 pm on Monday. The gunman fled the scene with an undetermined sum of money from the cashier in the mart.

Shmaly came to Antigua from Syria during the Covid-19 pandemic and was working towards his wedding. His fiancé lives in Syria.

A candlelight vigil is being held for him tonight.

    Sad to say but he not gonna get more than 3 or 5 years… under the juvenile Justice board rules can’t sentence them to more than 3… or 5 years
