Atlee Rodney, the country’s Police Commissioner has been appointed the new president of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police. He was elected during the 37th Annual General Meeting of ACCP that took place in Trinidad and Tobago.
The session started on Monday when heads of various police organizations came together to talk about issues of crime within the region and other issues of security affecting the country
The newly elected president said, “I am humbled by the confidence placed in me by my fellow Caribbean commissioners of police. I am equally grateful for the opportunity to serve policing in yet another area, and pledge to bring my experience and commitment to providing competent leadership to such an important law enforcement group in the region”.
Meanwhile, Minister of National Security Steadroy Benjamin, Commissioner Rodney’s recent appointment demonstrates the high regard in which he is held by his counterparts.
In his congratulatory message, Benjamin said “we are fortunate to have that type of leadership in the Police Force in Antigua and Barbuda, as they strive to provide law and order in our nation”.
Members within the Constabulary are also joining in congratulating their Commander in Chief.
The theme for this year’s general meeting and conference is “Transnational Organized Crime: A Growing Threat to Regional Security”.
The Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police was founded in 1986. Its motto is “United Against Crime”.
