The Opposition United Progressive Party has staged the third leg of its four-day picket in front of the Governor General’s Office as they continue to call on him to set up a Commission of Inquiry.
Today, Thursday, several members of the party stood outside Government House with placards, demanding that Sir Rodney Williams call an inquiry into what they call the Antigua Airways/African migrant saga.
The UPP has for weeks, demanded that a Commission of Inquiry be undertaken to investigate the circumstances surrounding Antigua Airways
Constitutional experts say the Governor General Sir Rodney Williams has no authority to call a Commission of Inquiry – at least not by himself. At least three experts said the inquiry would need to be sanctioned by the Cabinet
The picket is expected to continue until Friday.
