A man charged with knocking four down cyclists could face a more serious charge after one of the riders died recently.

Kenyatta Benjamin of Hatton, was charged with dangerous driving after he allegedly knocked down Andre Simon, Sean Weathered, Ghere Coates and Tiziano Rosignoli, on May 8.

All four men received treatment, but while the other three were later discharged from the hospital, the Mother’s Day incident landed Simon in the ICU for quite some time.

He experienced head trauma and internal bleeding as a result of the incident.

In early July Simon was transported to a medical facility in Texas for further treatment and although he was said to be improving he passed away on June 8 leaving the fate of Benjamin up in the air.

The police say that investigations will continue into the matter and a pathology report will determine the way forward.

If the report indicates that Simon died as a result of the accident, the accused will be charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

  1. This is an awfully composed report. For example months are mentioned but no year, May 8, then July then June , which year or years. Mother’s Day this year was not on May 8, so am I to construe that it was last year the accident took place. The reporter should make it absolutely clear in the report the reader should not have to research as to ehi the incidents occurred.

    • Statues of limitation would apply here since 365 days already passed. I want the driver to pay but the law is the law and the family may have to consider a civil suit. Sadly he passed and even more hurtful he passed 13 month after the incident. It would be interesting to see how the police here handles this

  2. This is nonsense. Whatever happened to Andre was a direct result of him being knocked down. Why would there be a need to go cut him up. Such bull
