Attorneys representing Yulia Guryeva-Motlokhov; the woman who claimed to be the daughter of US-sanctioned Russian Oligarch Adrey Guyvey, will file an appeal in court this week, further stalling the competition of the Alfa Nero Sale
Last week, the High Court rejected an application for an injunction to stop the sale of the luxury vessel which has been moored in Falmouth Habour for over 13 months.
One of the lawyers representing Guryeva-Motlokhov Attorney Dr David Dorsett said an appeal is expected to be filed within days.
“Judge Rene Williams ruled against our application. The client has been made aware and her instructions are clear. We will proceed with an appeal. We think the refusal should be challenged and we will be doing so with some speed,” he told Observer Radio
The latest decision could further delay the competition of the sale, as former Google boss Eric Schmidt was expected to transfer US$67.6 million into the government account after he won the bid during the auction.
He said last week, through his attorneys that he was awaiting the completion of the court matter before he could transfer the funds to seal the deal.
With the decision to appeal, there’s no telling how long the court matter will last. In some cases, it could take years.
