Prime Minister Gaston Browne and his wife Maria stole the spotlight at this year’s T-Shirt Mas

They were among thousands of residents who showed up for the return of the popular carnival event on Saturday

The Browne’s were part of the Myst Carnival band.

A video of the couple dancing to the beat of Soca went viral on social media.

“Me and my jamming partner. Jam she; Jam she harder. Murderrrr… Murderrr,” the prime minister wrote in a Facebook post.

Antigua’s Carnival is often described as the Caribbean’s Greatest Summer Festival.

With an explosion of artistic and cultural talent, music, steel bands and calypso, the streets come alive with parades, music bands, and troupes with a multitude of masqueraders in colorful costumes.

Held during the last week of July, and culminating on the first Monday and Tuesday of August, the event attracts locals and visitors alike.
