A joint meeting of the Global Government Forum (GGF) and the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) is scheduled in Barbados from October 16th to the 20th.
The meeting will discuss the challenges and opportunities of public sector digital transformation under the theme “Embracing a Digital Caribbean: Opportunities for Growth and Innovation.”
The event aims to bring together stakeholders from various sectors, including government officials, industry leaders, technology experts, academics, and representatives from regional and international organizations to share ideas.
Kevin Sorkin, Founder and Chief Executive of Pendragon International Media Ltd, which publishes GGF and organizes the Caribbean Digital Summit, stated that the inaugural Caribbean Digital Summit will be held in collaboration with CTU’s ICT Week.
The event aims to provide the essential program of events and activities for the region’s digital leaders to help their transformation and improve delivery for citizens.
Sorkin added that the interim results of their study of digital transformation in the region would be shared, and the government CIOs of the region would join for valuable discussions.
Rodney Taylor, Secretary-General of CTU, welcomed the collaboration with the Government of Barbados and the Global Government Forum, marking a significant milestone for the Caribbean region’s digital development.
He added that combining the Caribbean Digital Summit with the CTU’s ICT Week would create a powerful platform for accelerating digital transformation and innovation.
Taylor emphasized that the event would empower digital leaders to address challenges and embrace opportunities, ultimately enhancing the lives of citizens and driving progress throughout the region.
