Over one hundred enthusiastic participants from the National Public Library’s Annual Summer Camp went on an educational visit to Government House this summer.

The visit was organized under the 2023 theme “All Together Now” to help enhance children’s reading and lifelong learning skills through immersive experiences such as tours, interviews, and role-playing.

During the visit, the students had the privilege of an audience with His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, the Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda.

They were warmly received and engaged in an enriching conversation with His Excellency, gaining insights into the nation’s history and journey towards political independence, Government House, and the distinguished individuals who have served as Governors-General.

The National Public Library’s dedicated team, including Director Mrs. Ryllis Mannix and staff members Hyacinth Joshua, Jessica Gilpin, Staria Attwood, and Olivette Hillhouse, accompanied the children on a tour of Government House.

The attached photo, courtesy of Photogenesis, shows one group of children from the Library’s Summer Camp interacting with His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams and library personnel.

These photographs serve as lasting memories of an educational adventure that will undoubtedly positively impact the young participants.
