Former Member of Parliament Dean Jonas will have to endure a further two-month delay before his ongoing court case proceeds.
The former Minister of Social Transformation and Gender Affairs is facing charges of resisting arrest, using threatening language, engaging in disorderly conduct, and assault and battery.
These charges stem from an incident that transpired at his residence in Scott’s Hill on February 23, allegedly occurring during a dispute with the mother of one of his children over custody.
The case, which has been pending since Jonas was initially charged in February, has experienced multiple delays, often due to submissions by his legal team. The most recent adjournment was granted, setting the new court date for November 9.
