SNK Govt makes major water discovery in Cayon

During a Water Town Hall meeting at the Cayon High School Auditorium, Minister of Public Infrastructure, Konris Maynard announced that the water found at the drilling site in Cayon is drinkable and meets the standards set by the World Health Organization.

The well has an initial assessment suggesting it can produce from 700,000 to 1 million gallons of water per day.

Maynard expressed his delight in the Government’s efforts to make Cayon the first in line for water for the next ten years, after being behind for so long.

He commended the Government’s commitment and resources in solving the issue in Cayon, stating that the water was discovered by crews from the Bedrock Exploration Development Technologies (BEAD) Company, who began and completed the drilling process a few weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Terrance Drew revealed that his government plans to invest more significantly in the country’s infrastructure to resolve the longstanding water challenges faced by residents of several communities.

Drew said that the government has invested heavily with BEAD and is planning to provide large storage tanks for residents to store water and turn saltwater into fresh water through desalination.

He added that drilling wells is just one part of the government’s overall plan to address water problems.

Drew emphasized that the government is determined to ensure that every citizen in St. Kitts and Nevis has potable water 24/7.

He believes that water should be available to all citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis whenever they need it, anywhere in Cayon.

The Government has invested millions of dollars in this initiative, and Drew expressed his optimism that all citizens will have access to drinking water anytime they need it.
