Antigua & Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association (ABHTA) Launches Unveiling Hospitality Professionals Series

The Antigua & Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association (ABHTA) is thrilled to announce the start of a thirteen-week project leading up to Tourism Week 2023, named “Unveiling Hospitality Professionals.”

This project aims to highlight the often-overlooked individuals who make up the dynamic hospitality industry, celebrating their diverse backgrounds, personal achievements, and commitment to excellence.

From the humble beginnings of some to the years of dedication and honing of craft of others, this project will showcase the growth of the industry through their contributions.

Our first feature introduces Michelle Seaforth, the Deputy General Manager at Mill Reef Club, and her journey into the hospitality industry.

Michelle was inspired by her mother’s role as the Room Division Manager at Jolly Beach Resort, her stories about guests, events, and team interactions always fascinated Michelle.

Michelle’s interest in hospitality grew further with her visits to Jolly Beach, where she experienced the warm and welcoming atmosphere that left a lasting impression on her.

This led Michelle to pursue a degree in Travel Tourism and Hospitality Management with a minor in Food and Beverage at Johnson & Wales University in Miami.

Michelle’s path to her current position as Deputy General Manager at Mill Reef Club was marked by resilience and the principle of “stoop to conquer” instilled by her father. She started her career as a janitor, putting her degree to practical use as she worked her way up from the ground level.

In her current role, Michelle oversees six departments, including Reception, Housekeeping, Reservations, Beach and Gardens, Maintenance, and House Rentals.

Craig Marshall, Chairman of the ABHTA, highlights the importance of sharing stories like Michelle’s to inspire the next generation of Antiguan and Barbudan talent aspiring to reach the highest echelons of the hospitality industry.

This project is committed to unveiling inspiring stories of individuals engaged in various sectors of the hospitality industry, including hotel operations, taxi services, yachting, tours, and vendor businesses.

The Unveiling Hospitality Professionals project commences on September 12, with one inspiring narrative released each week.
