CBH to hold handwashing exercises.

16 October 2023 - 09:17

The Central Board of Health (CBH) is proud to host several hand-washing demonstrations today as Antigua and Barbuda join the rest of the world in celebrating World Hand Hygiene Day.

To promote proper hand washing techniques, the CBH will conduct these demonstrations outside their Upper Church Street offices.

We encourage all members of the public to participate in the exercise and wash their hands in the presence of CBH officers, who will be there to ensure that everyone is following the proper hand-washing practices.

Hand hygiene is an essential practice in the healthcare industry, and the World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes the importance of this practice.

Proper hand hygiene can save millions of lives every year, and it is a wise investment that offers exceptional returns for each dollar invested.

It is not only a sign of respect to those who seek care, but it also protects health and other workers who provide the same.

The WHO is calling on all individuals, organizations, and communities to prioritize hand hygiene practices and accelerate progress in achieving effective hand hygiene at the point of care.
