The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has raised concerns among Caribbean leaders about its impact on the region.
Tourism Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Charles Fernandez, and Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr Ralph Gonsalves, have both voiced their worry about the potential for rising oil prices and the effect this could have on the price of airline tickets.
Fernandez is particularly concerned that high ticket costs will deter people from traveling and negatively impact the ease of doing business.
Meanwhile, Gonsalves has highlighted the threat of the conflict escalating and spreading, diverting attention from other vital issues such as the upcoming COP28 UAE.
Both leaders call for experienced and knowledgeable individuals to address these challenges and push for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
