Three-storey house collapses in Portland from impact of 5.6 earthquake

At around 10:57 am, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake shook Jamaica, causing significant damage to a three-story concrete house in Content, Hope Bay, Portland.

The impact of the earthquake caused the entire first floor of the house to crumble, leading to its collapse.

Fortunately, the couple who lived in the house were away visiting their relatives in Kingston over the weekend and escaped unharmed.

The destructive earthquake also caused landslides on several roadways, leading to disruptions and making it difficult for people to travel.

Moreover, the offices of the Portland Municipal Corporation also suffered structural damage due to the earthquake, which could impact their operations in the coming days.
