A man in his early twenties has confessed to stabbing a man in July 2021 and is now expected to be sentenced in a matter of days.
Amanaki John, from Golden Grove, has acknowledged his involvement in the altercation.
The charges against John, which date back to July 8, 2021, pertained to the wounding of Alexta Francis from Golden Grove New Extension.
The altercation occurred at Big Creek two days before John’s arrest. A bystander captured the incident on camera, and the footage was widely circulated on social media.
The dispute between the two men escalated, eventually leading to John arming himself with a sharp object, which he used to inflict multiple wounds on Francis.
Francis, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries, was promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention.
During a recent appearance in the High Court before Justice Tunde Bakre, John pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding. He is set to be sentenced for the offense on November 7.
