Tragically, the historic Point School has been destroyed by a fire.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but fire officials received a call just after 1:30 a.m about the massive blaze.
The building, also known as The Goodwill Academy or Mr Henry School, was located on the north side of the Fisheries complex and served as an iconic landmark for many.
Unfortunately, it is now nothing more than ashes.
While the building was generally unoccupied, there have been reports of an individual occasionally seen inside.
At this time, firefighters cannot confirm whether anyone was present in the building at the time of the fire.
The fire knocked out power in the Point and Villa area. At the time of publication, APUA was at the scene assisting firefighters while assessing the work to be done
Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic event.
For a tourist destination island, every day we keep killing our historical sites. Then we spend millions of dollars every year trying to market our island for tourism.
Are these fires set deliberately?
