The Cabinet members are scheduled to convene soon to decide on whether to grant the traditional waiver of Antigua Barbuda Sales Tax ahead of this year’s Christmas season.
Ministry of Finance officials have suggested against the waiver this year. However, the final decision is yet to be taken by the executive arm of the Government.
To promote spending during the busy yuletide season and ease the financial burden on consumers, the government has previously provided a waiver on the sales tax.
The Cabinet is scheduled to meet next week to make a decision on the matter.
