Lieutenant Aushaun Browne, an officer in the Antigua Barbuda Defense Force (ABDF), has successfully completed an International Long Navigation Course in India.
The course, spread over seven months, was held at the Navigation and Direction School in Kochi, India, and included 20 officers from 16 different countries.
The primary goal of the course was to prepare officers to become Navigating Officers, responsible for ensuring the navigational safety and operational readiness of Naval Warships at all times.
The course also covered various aspects of maritime operations, including hydrography, aircraft direction, oceanography, meteorology, and naval warfare.
According to Vijay Tewari, the Indian Honorary Consul in St. John’s, all 20 officers, including Lt. Browne, successfully completed the course and are now certified Navigation Officers.
The ABDF continues to provide its soldiers with opportunities to help equip them to defend and support the nation.
