VIDEO: Abandoned Building on Church Street Destroyed by Fire

An investigation is underway into a fire on Monday night that destroyed a small wooden structure on Church Street.

The Public Relations Officer of the Fire Department, Inspector Lester Bagot at 6pm the St John’s fire station received a telephone call stating that there was a structure on fire on church street.

He said an immediate response was made in Number 15 fire tender.

On arrival at the scene the fire crew met a wooden structure fully engulfed in fire.

Bagot said water was used from the fire tender to control and extinguish the fire.

Also responding to the scene were fire tenders from Coolidge fire station and All Saints fire station.

Hugh Christian also responded with his water delivery truck as a backup.

The building was destroyed by the fire. The building was an abandoned building that was frequented by vagrants.

The fire brigade is investigating the origin of the fire.
