Murder accused Jeffrey Daniel was found guilty  of murder this morning.

Daniel is now convicted of killing Emanuel ‘David’ Roberts at his Newfield home on May 21, 2021.

Justice Tunde Bakre ruled that the prosecutions case though circumstantial left him with no doubt that Daniel killed the elderly man.

According to the prosecution’s case, Daniel -the ex-boyfriend of the deceased’s step daughter- had been explicitly warned not to return to their Newfield residence following a trespassing incident on May 16, 2021.

Despite the warning, Daniel reappeared a few days later, and David was alerted to his presence by his stepdaughter.

Roberts confronted Daniel with a cutlass, leading to a scuffle where the accused gained the upper hand, using the cutlass on the deceased.

Roberts received a long and deep laceration, two broken ribs and died from a massive loss of blood.

Daniel’s lawyers Wendel Alexander and Wayne Marsh argued self defense and accident as their defenses but the Judge rule that none of those can apply in this case.

Daniel will be sentenced in January.

The girlfriend should be in jail too because she had encouraged Daniel in the home even though he was told by her father or stepfather not to come on his premises. I hope this is a lesson for all young men in Antigua.
I thought this was a self-defence case where one person ended up dead.
Notice to all fathers and stepfathers, please call the police instead of trying to run or chase your daughter or step-daughter boyfriend or lover off your premises!!
Daniel, I am sorry this had happened to you. May you use the time incarceration and reflect on your life. May God comfort and strengthen both families.
