Mr. Khan Cordice, who is the Director of Culture in Antigua and Barbuda, has been chosen by the US Embassy in Bridgetown to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of the US Department of State.
He is currently in the US as part of an exchange program called “Promoting Social Change Through the Arts”.
Over a span of three weeks from November 25 to December 16, along with over 70 members from more than 50 countries, he will tour several cities across the country, including Washington D.C., New York City, Detroit, Minneapolis, Seattle, and New Orleans.
The program will provide an opportunity for Mr. Cordice to examine the role of arts education in promoting social change, and to inspire young people to become responsible and active members of society.
By examining the geographic, ethnic, and religious diversity of the US population, participants will learn how innovative arts programming can play a vital role in promoting community sustainability and managing conflicts.
They will also acquire skills in youth leadership and conflict resolution, address personal and community healing, and promote cross-cultural understanding.
The International Visitor Leadership Program is a prestigious professional exchange program of the Department of State that brings together emerging leaders from various professions to learn from US experts and share best practices with other program fellows from the same region and across the world.
