ABHTA Successfully Completes its Professional Learning Series for 2023

The Antigua & Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association recently concluded the ABHTA Professional Learning Series of 2023 by hosting the Supervisory Management Leadership Development Course.

This 8-week Virtual course was led by Shirlene Nibbs and provided valuable insights to Supervisors and Managers on essential skills and behaviors for self-management and cultivating high-performing teams.

Ms. Nibbs addressed the key challenges faced by supervisors and managers, including leadership elements, communication strategies, relationship management, personal development, and performance management.

The final assignment of the course required participants to select an organization and assess its current leadership and provide suggestions and recommendations on how a change in leadership approach could transform the organization, making it more effective.

The attendees found the course very informative and insightful. They appreciated the session on conflict resolution the most, where they learned that not all conflict is bad and that conflict is good. It’s the approach used that allows for the desired outcome you wish to achieve.

Ms. Shirlene Nibbs, the course facilitator, shared that the session was engaging and energizing and provided her with an opportunity to push her talents to the ultimate heights.

The course’s weekly sessions of 4 hours were a first, but it proved to be a success as participants learned a lot from each other and Ms. Nibbs. The course had participants from various sectors of Hospitality and supporting businesses, making it an unforgettable experience.

The ABHTA is committed to offering a range of courses for the ongoing professional development of individuals in the Service Industry.

Their Professional Learning courses cater to both beginners and advanced professionals. Individuals who wish to learn more about the training department at the ABHTA can reach out to Ms. Anthea Watkins at [email protected].
