News has reached Antigua.News that Soca Artiste Ricardo Drue has died. 

Drue was found unresponsive and was rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after noon today.

He was the finance of Trinidad international soca artist Patrice Roberts, and he posted this pic on his IG last week with Patrice, having fans guessing that Patrice might be pregnant.

Ricardo Drue dominated the Soca Monarch and Road March spheres in Antigua/Barbuda and amassed a large following across the region.

Among his well-known soca hits, Vagabond and Professional.

Ricardo Drue was a talented musician who began his musical journey in Fort Road, Antigua and later moved to Cocoyea San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago at the age of 4.

With his unique blend of Soca, R&B, Hip Hop, and Reggae, Drue quickly established himself as a leading artist in his genre.

He was one of the lead singers of the dance and vocal quartet “Crossovah” before venturing into his solo career in 2010. Drue’s impressive career was marked by his performances alongside renowned artists like Jeffrey Osbourne, Mario, Fat Joe, Sean Kingston, and Machel Montano.

He released several albums, including “Dreams of my Reality” and “MYTIME,” and was honored as the New Power Soca Monarch of Antigua & Barbuda in August 2014. Within four years of his solo career, Drue achieved significant milestones, becoming a co-lead singer with the Roy Cape All Stars and a brand ambassador for Digicel Antigua & Barbuda.

He also had June 21st, 2014, declared as “Ricardo Drue Day” in Boston. His hit single “Vagabond” dominated international Soca charts in 2014/15, and he secured the Power Soca Monarch title for two consecutive years.

Drue’s recent release “Professional” on the Groove Theory riddim gained widespread acclaim in Barbados, Antigua, and Canada, reflecting his aspirations to break cultural barriers while staying true to his roots.
