Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley has recently issued a call to action to the nation’s citizens, urging them to prioritize population growth and recognize its importance for the country’s sustainable development and economic expansion.
Mottley has emphasized the potential risks that could arise from a stagnant or declining population, especially concerning the labor force and the ability to support an aging demographic.
The Prime Minister’s statement further highlights the need for strategic planning and implementation of policies and initiatives that could attract more people to the country, either through increased birth rates or immigration.
But her critics say she needs to lead by example, by first finding a man, having sex and “putting one [child] on the table”.
