The Caribbean Union Bank (CUB) has created a scholarship to honor the memory of the late Amaya Yearwood, a former employee of the company who died in a tragic accident in 2020 at just 22 years of age.
In a release CUB said that “this scholarship celebrates Amaya’s legacy by supporting bright young minds from her alma mater, the Antigua and Barbuda International Institute of Technology (ABIIT).”
The company then announced that this year’s recipient of theAmaya Yearwood Memorial Scholarship will be Kelcy-Ann Tittle.
In a recent announcement, the company revealed that the prestigious Amaya Yearwood Memorial Scholarship for this year has been awarded to Kelcy-Ann Tittle.
Her educational journey began at New Bethel SDA Academy, followed by an impressive five-year stint at The Princess Margaret Secondary School, where she graduated with honors, showcasing exceptional results in nine CSEC subjects, predominantly earning grades of one and two.
Tittle’s passion for business blossomed during her high school years, leading her to venture into entrepreneurship with a small-scale online clothing and accessories business on social media. This endeavor provided her with invaluable insights into customer service, marketing strategies, cash flow management, and effective communication.
Fueled by her entrepreneurial spirit, Tittle decided to pursue a career in Sales and Marketing. With the support of her mother, she enrolled at the Antigua and Barbuda International Institute of Technology (ABIIT), consistently excelling academically. Tittle maintained an impressive GPA, actively participated in classroom discussions, absorbed the teachings of her instructors, and thrived in collaborative group assignments.
Expressing her gratitude, Tittle stated, “This opportunity means so much to me and my family. It will make a big difference financially and motivate me to strive for academic excellence. As I embark on continuing my studies in Sales and Marketing at ABIIT, I am excited to achieve my goals with the completion of this degree.”
The scholarship was formally presented to Kelcy-Ann Tittle in a ceremony held at Caribbean Union Bank’s Starlings Branch. The event was graced by Tittle, her aunt, representatives from ABIIT, and the management and staff of the bank.
