Antigua and Barbuda’s Ge’Eve Phillip, a rising star in the world of Calypso music, represented her island in the Queen of Caribbean Calypso Crown competition last night, but unfortunately, she could not bring home the coveted title.

Despite this setback, Phillip performed excellently, showcasing her talent and passion for the genre.

Officials from the National Festivals Commission handpicked Phillip to represent her island in the competition, which featured some of the most talented female Calypso singers from across the Caribbean region.

The event was held in Montserrat and was part of the 2023 Regional Female Calypso Competition.

Although many talented artists competed for the Queen of Caribbean Calypso Crown, it was Trinidad and Tobago’s Terri Lyons who emerged as the winner for the second year in a row.

Lyons delivered an exceptional performance, wowing the judges with her renditions of “House Cleaning” and “Calypso,” earning a total score of 820 points.

The second-place position was also secured by a performer from Trinidad and Tobago, Kerine Williams-Figaro, popularly known as “Tiny.”

She impressed the judges with her soulful songs, “To You With Love” and “Fruits Ain’t Ripe Yet,” earning a total score of 802 points.

Third place went to Chrystal Holder, also known as “Chrystal Cummins Beckles,” who represented Barbados in the competition. She delivered a mesmerizing performance of “De Rescue” and “Check De Scene,” earning a total score of 801 points.

The competition attracted singers from various Caribbean islands, including St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, St. Lucia, Montserrat, Anguilla, Barbados, and St. Maarten.

Each performer was required to deliver two songs at the Queen of Queens 2023 event, making it a challenging and competitive event.

Despite the stiff competition, the performers delivered outstanding performances, making it an unforgettable night for all those in attendance
