Antigua and Barbuda sign agreements with China to boost development.

On Wednesday, Antigua and Barbuda entered into various cooperation agreements with the People’s Republic of China to enhance the relationship between the two countries.

The meeting between Premier Li Qiang and Prime Minister Gaston Browne resulted in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding, which included an agreement to address Climate Change under the framework of South-South Cooperation, an agreement to speed up the formulation of the Cooperation Plan on the Belt and Road initiative, and an agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption.

Moreover, Alibaba Damo Academy and Hospitals and the Minister for Health, Wellness, Social Transformation, and the Environment, Sir Molwyn Joseph, signed an agreement to provide equipment for early cancer screening and digital health, while also providing doctors with AI-powered tools.

It also provides a framework for identifying chronic diseases.

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Agriculture, Trade, and Barbuda Affairs, E. P. Chet Greene, signed an agreement on a Water Rehabilitation Project in addition to an agreement for the provision of equipment for the Port of St. John’s for aiding in the Anti-Narcotics Laboratory Project funded by China.

Furthermore, Minister Greene signed an agreement between the China Media Group (CMG) and the Antigua and Barbuda Broadcasting Services (ABS) to promote development and cooperation.

These agreements are expected to facilitate the advancement of Antigua and Barbuda’s development and further strengthen the level of relations between the two countries.
