Prime Minister Gaston Browne expresses optimism about acquiring a plane he inspected during his recent visit to China, envisioning its potential addition to the LIAT 2020 fleet.

He notes, “It has 70 seats, $30 million, which is well within our reach. It’s one of the plans going forward for LIAT 2020. These planes offer a longer reach and greater capacity,” Browne stated.

Highlighting the significance of such planes, Browne suggests their role in the establishment of LIAT 2020 Limited.

He emphasizes the potential for these aircraft to play a crucial part if there are plans to enter the US market, stating, “If indeed we are going to be going into the US Market before that – I am sure that, I still realize the one I left. We are very happy for this contact,” the prime minister said.

This development comes after LIAT 1974 Limited concluded its operations last week, marking the end of decades of service to the Caribbean region.

  1. Why doesn’t this man focus on fixing the country’s infrastructure, like the roadways and gutter drains, the water supply system, the healthcare system, etc? Is the $30 million coming from the 2% ABST increase to purchase that airline? I am not saying we don’t need our airline, but we have severe problems in the country that need repairs, emergencies and urgent attention.
