Health Minister Sir Mplwyn Joseph

Antigua and Barbuda has recorded 4 cases of Covid-19 although that number is believed to be much higher

Many people are presenting with COVID-19 symptoms but are treating their symptoms at home.

Sir Molwyn Joseph, the Minister of Health said Tuesday that the Caribbean continues to experience an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases

“The last report I received says there are actually 4 active cases and none over the last seven days.” He said

In 2024, even with a decline in the number of cases, revised booster vaccines, and a sense of normalcy, people often ask if COVID-19 is still a concern.

COVID-19 is an ongoing global health crisis that poses a significant threat to everyone, particularly those who are considered high-risk.

Individuals with underlying medical conditions that affect their immune system or ability to fight off illnesses, such as autoimmune diseases or those taking immunosuppressive drugs, are at an increased risk of experiencing severe complications from COVID-19.

Other high-risk groups include elderly individuals, pregnant women, cancer patients, asthmatics, and young children, especially premature babies.

It’s essential to note that high-risk individuals are present in every population group and not a rare occurrence.
