A man had to be rushed to the hospital last night after reportedly being shot in his stomach.

The man, whose identity is not yet known, is now hospitalized following the shooting, which took place in the vicinity of Fort Road in St John’s.

Despite his injuries, he reportedly drove to Percival’s Service Station, where Emergency Medical Services were summoned.

He was swiftly transported to the hospital by ambulance and is currently in critical condition.

Fortunately, his female companion, who was in the vehicle with him, escaped unharmed but is said to be shaken by the traumatic incident.

Meanwhile, in an official statement released just now, the police are appealing for help in solving a shooting incident,

“It was reported that a man and his female companion were traveling North to South along McKinnon’s road when an unknown person from another vehicle fired several shots at them.They managed get to the Percival Service Station on Fort Road where they asked for help. The man was transported to the hospital by the Emergency Medical Services where he is receiving medical treatment. The female escaped unhurt.” the STRATCOM statement said.
