APUA Disconnection Drive Begins Today

19 February 2024 - 11:23

The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has issued a public notice to all its customers who have accounts that are 30 days or more in arrears, informing them of the start of its disconnection drive.

The drive began on Monday, February 19, and will run until February 29, 2020. Customers who have not settled their accounts for all of the services provided by APUA, which include electricity, water, and telecoms (Inet mobile, home, and business), face the risk of disconnection.

The authority is urging customers to bring their accounts up to date as soon as possible to avoid any inconvenience.

Customers who would like to discuss special payment arrangements can contact the Credit Control Department of the Authority.

Moreover, bill payment can be made online via the authority’s Direct Online Bill Payment Portal at www.apua.ag, or through any of APUA’s banking or credit union partners.

APUA has assured its customers that once payment is made, their reconnections will be processed within one or two business days.

However, residents are grumbling about the pending hike in water rates, which will become effective on March 1, 2024.

They claim that the water service is erratic, at best, and the poor quality of the water does not justify the new fees.
