Residents of Barbuda who have been actively opposing the construction of an international airport on Barbuda have just won a significant victory.
The Privy Council, which is the highest court of appeal in the country, has ruled in favor of the appellants, John Mussington and Jackie Frank.
The London-based court has determined that the pair have legal standing to challenge the government’s granting of a development permit and have presented sufficient evidence to show that due processes were not followed in the decision-making process.
This ruling is a major breakthrough for the Barbudan community and a significant blow to the government’s plans for the airport
