All the Commercial and residential plots identified at the Dunbars Housing Development along Friars Hill Road now have owners.
Executive Chairman of the National Housing and Urban Renewal Company, Senator Rawdon Turner, made that disclosure on state media Wednesday night, explaining the need for housing in Antigua and Barbuda is great.
“If you look at Friars Hill Road and the people who do business along Frias Hill Road it would be a particular class within society. So, the administration decided to carve out a section to allow young entrepreneurs to establish business in such a prime location,” he said.
Outside of the Dunbars area, more opportunities are being opened in other parts of the country.
“We have lands available in the Freetown area, we have a development in the Piccadilly area that we are currently working on the designs for, and there is also another area in Five Islands where we will be looking to build some starter and affordable homes for sale also,” Turner said.
He explained that his department is bombarded with applications daily from citizens wishing to own a piece of the rock, but there is not enough land to fulfill that need.
“People would sometimes make the statement, they have been trying for so long, its friend and company, and it is not true. It’s just too many applications, there is not enough government land available and we are doing our best,” he said.
