Opposition Party continues plan for Biennial convention

5 March 2024 - 09:22

The opposition United Progressive Party is making the final preparations ahead of the party’s upcoming 12th Biennial Convention.

Party members have until March 15th to submit names for the various positions.

General Secretary Senator Shawn Nicholas said they are connecting all the dots.

“We are doing all that to ensure that everything is in place for the convention,” Nicholas said.

Party Leader, Deputy Leader, Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson and General Secretary are some of the positions up for grabs.

All Saints East and St Luke’s Member of Parliament Jamale Pringle is the current Political Leader of the Party.

His colleagues St John’s Rural West MP Richard Lewis, and Party Caretaker for St John’s Rural North Pearl Quinn Williams are contending for the post.

Speaking to Observer media, Pringle said that the convention was an internal party matter at this stage, but an official correspondence will be sent by the political party in the future.
