Grammy-nominated Antiguan artist Art Phillip, more commonly known as ‘Drastic’, has announced that he will compete in the 2024 edition of Canada’s Got Talent (CGT).
Dubbed the Million Dollar Season, Drastic will go up against 115 other acts for the chance to win the biggest cash prize in Canadian television history.
Grammy-nominated Antiguan artist Art Phillip, widely known as ‘Drastic,’ has confirmed his participation in the 2024 edition of Canada’s Got Talent (CGT).
This season, titled the Million Dollar Season, will feature Drastic competing against 115 other acts for the chance to win the largest cash prize in Canadian television history—a whopping million dollars.
Adding to the excitement, each Golden Buzzer recipient will receive $25,000, totaling $150,000, courtesy of CIBC, to support their aspirations. Premium sponsors for this season include Orville Redenbacher, Kruger (Scotties Tissues), and Unilever (Dove and Dove Men + Care), along with returning partners Rogers, CIBC, and Tim Hortons.
The show is set to premiere on March 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT with a two-hour episode on Citytv or available for streaming anytime on Citytv+.
Contestants will face the judgment of CGT’s esteemed panel of judges—Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, Trish Stratus, and Kardinal Offishall.
CGT’s Million Dollar Season promises an array of wild and eccentric acts, record-breaking stunts, and numerous contestants who have pursued their dreams abroad but are now returning to compete on the Canadian stage.
Hosted by Lindsay Ell, Canada’s Got Talent will culminate in a live two-hour finale on Tuesday, May 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT from OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls.
Drastic kickstarted his professional music career in 2007 by winning the Virgin Islands Idol competition. Throughout the years, he has collaborated with renowned musicians such as Sean Kingston, Spragga Benz, Destra, Surwayne Winchester, Honorebel, Jemere Morgan, Patrice Roberts, Ricardo Drue, Richie Loop, Shal Marshal, and Jamaican reggae star Jah Cure.
His songs and music videos have received numerous awards and chart appearances in the Caribbean and beyond. Notably, Jah Cure’s album “The Cure,” featuring Drastic’s “No Friend of Mine,” was nominated for a Grammy in 2015. Additionally, Drastic received a second Grammy nomination for penning the title track and “Brighter Day” on Jah Cure’s album “Royal Soldier” in 2019.
He is also well known in Antigua for soca hits like ‘Sugar Waistline.
