Immigration and customs agencies meeting in Antigua and Barbuda this week.

Officials responsible for immigration and customs from the six countries hosting the 2024 ITC Cricket World Cup T20 in June are gathering in St. John’s to discuss strategies for managing the large influx of people expected to travel to the region for the matches.

The two-day meeting will be hosted by the Chief Immigration Officer, Katrina Yearwood, and Comptroller of Customs, Raju Boddu.

Participants will include representatives from Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Guyana, as well as officials from several regional security agencies.

The primary focus of the meeting is to develop common procedures for processing cricketers and other officials arriving for the cricket matches

The coordinators aim to ensure that the processing arrangements are consistent across Antigua and Barbuda and the other five territories.

The meeting will also address matters related to decisions made during the 46th CARICOM Heads of Government in Guyana that affect the immigration and customs departments.

Participants at the meeting will include representatives from the Regional Security Services, the Joint Regional Communications on Crime Centre, and CARICOM IMPASS.

The opening ceremony will be held at the Trade Winds hotel and will feature speeches from Public Safety Minister, Sir Steadroy Benjamin, Head of CARICOM IMPASS, Earl Harris, Yearwood, and Boddu.

The meeting will address critical issues related to the T20 World Cup matches to make the process as hassle-free as possible while ensuring the safety and security of the region.
