The Trade Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, E.P Chet Greene, is currently leading a trade and investment mission to promote his country as a safe and stable destination for UK investors.
The three-day event is a collaborative effort of the Ministry of Trade, the UK High Commission of Antigua and Barbuda in London, and the Commonwealth Secretariat.
During the opening ceremony on Monday, the minister highlighted several strengths of his country that make it an attractive place to invest and do business. He emphasized that Antigua and Barbuda is a politically stable country that is proud to be one of the most secure in the Caribbean.
He also mentioned that the country has consistently ranked among the top 10% for annual economic growth rate in Latin America and the Caribbean, owing to its booming tourism and construction industries and maturing financial services sector.
The minister also drew attention to the country’s major infrastructural developments such as the new airport and the recently expanded seaport, which are vital for trade and investment purposes.
He further explained that these infrastructural developments, combined with the country’s geographical location, have positioned it as a strategically located and highly developed logistics hub serviced by daily commercial, airfreight and FBO flights from key markets.
The High Commission to the UK, Karen-Mae Hill, echoed the trade minister’s sentiments, promoting Antigua and Barbuda as an ideal destination to invest and do business.
She emphasized that the country offers attractive and competitive business opportunities across a wide range of sectors.
Hill also mentioned that Antigua and Barbuda has a warm tropical climate, low crime rate, and favorable business incentives, making it a highly attractive destination for discerning investors.
Throughout the day, several presentations were made to the forum, highlighting the different business opportunities available in Antigua and Barbuda.
Personalized meetings were also arranged between UK business leaders and potential clients/business partners to facilitate investment and business deals.
