The Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries has organized a public discussion entitled ‘The Heart of the Matter’ that is set to take place on Thursday.
The main focus of this event is to discuss and evaluate various aspects of mathematics education with the aim of enhancing the current standards and outcomes.
Education officials have expressed concern over mathematics results for primary and secondary school students, and this has led to the adoption of new and improved approaches to the subject area, as well as remedial work being carried out with students.
To further address these challenges, the Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries is engaging with key stakeholders, with Thursday’s forum being the latest of these interactions.
Shoya Hurst, the Acting Education Officer for Curriculum Mathematics, has stated that the conversation aims to identify effective strategies, address the difficulties faced by students, and encourage collaboration among stakeholders to improve mathematics education countrywide.
The event will be held at the Sir John E. St. Luce Finance & Conference Centre and is scheduled to commence at 5 p.m on Thursday, March 14th, 2024.
