During the murder trial of Kasroy Simon, a former Police Constable charged with the murder of Nicoma McFarlene, pathologist Dr. Sekeena Goodwin revealed that McFarlene was murdered and then staged to appear as if she had taken her own life.
It was alleged that Simon and McFarlene were acquainted before McFarlene’s arrival in Antigua and had been close friends. However, their relationship reportedly deteriorated when McFarlene rejected Simon’s advances for a more serious relationship.
McFarlene, a Jamaican national, was found with her wrist cut, a razor, and an empty Clorox bottle nearby in her Freeman’s Village home on February 7, 2019.
However, Dr. Goodwin’s examination indicated that her wrist was likely cut post-mortem, as there was no evidence of vital reaction in the tissue, such as clotting or white blood cell movement.
Dr. Goodwin’s post-mortem examination revealed that the actual cause of McFarlene’s death was strangulation.
The trial is ongoing with many more witnesses left to testify.
