During an official executive meeting held by the ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party, representatives from all the seventeen constituency branches of the party voted in the affirmative to conduct two separate polls to determine the party’s caretaker in the All Saints West constituency.
The candidates who polled the most votes in the primary were Lamin Newton and Regis Burton, and the party’s leadership met with them to discuss the matter and agreed to go the route of polling the relative popularity of the candidates in the constituency.
The process of polling will be open to all registered voters in the constituency and is expected to reflect the support of the candidates throughout the entire constituency.
The agreement signed by the three primary candidates was brought before the full executive for endorsement prior to the primary, and while it remained an agreement between the three candidates, it was supposed to have had the approval of the party’s executive.
The results of the polls will be made available to the full party executive upon their conclusion.
