On Wednesday, a graduation ceremony was held at the Nurses Headquarters to celebrate the accomplishments of twenty-nine young individuals who completed the Nursing Assistant Programme 2024.

The ceremony was attended by Ministry of Health officials, family, and friends, who gathered to congratulate the graduates on their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence in healthcare.

This graduation ceremony serves as a testament to these aspiring healthcare professionals’ hard work and determination.

Over the course of six months, these individuals underwent intensive training and practical experience to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide essential care services to patients in various healthcare settings.

Their curriculum was comprehensive, comprising 320 hours of classroom lectures, 180 hours of practical demonstrations, and 340 hours of clinical attachment.

Additionally, they were required to demonstrate competence in 21 mandatory patient care skills, ensuring their readiness for professional practice.

The Ministry of Health acknowledges the diverse academic abilities within the cohort and commends the spirit of collaboration and support that characterized their journey.

Outstanding performers and most improved students were recognized for their exemplary efforts and dedication to continuous improvement. Margaret Smith, Principal Nursing Officer, remarked, “We gather today to celebrate the remarkable achievements of these graduands. Their dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to excellence serve as an inspiration to us all. Each graduand has demonstrated not only proficiency in their skills but also compassion and empathy—the hallmarks of exceptional healthcare professionals.”

As these nursing assistants prepare to embark on their professional careers, they are encouraged to pursue further avenues of self-development, including enrollment in the Registered Nursing programme or medical schools on the island.

The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to supporting their ongoing education and professional growth.
