The Police are currently investigating two cases of financial fraud – one involving fraudulent conversion and the other involving larceny – both of which involve large sums of money.
According to reports, a US resident currently residing in John Hughes approached the All Saints Police Station with a complaint that she had provided a Clarkes Hill resident with EC$16,000 and US$555 to purchase a vehicle online.
However, despite several attempts to retrieve her cash or the vehicle, she has been unsuccessful and has yet to receive either.
The accused individual allegedly received the money on or around June 24, 2023, at Clarkes Hill.
The constable investigating the matter has made several calls to the accused’s phone, but there has been no response and a subsequent search for him was unsuccessful.
In another incident, a woman from Willikies allegedly had over $70,000 stolen from two separate bank accounts.
She reported to the Criminal Investigations Department that $28,006.28 and $48,704.15 were removed from her accounts at the Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank (ECAB) between January 15 and February 29 this year.
