The High Court is set to confirm a trial date for Berle Wallace Jr., who stands accused of the murder of Christopher Smithers, a personal trainer from Friars Hill Development.

The court aims to commence the trial on May 27, pending final confirmation on May 3.

The tragic incident occurred on St. John’s Street on the evening of March 1, 2022, around 6:23 p.m. An altercation erupted between Wallace Jr. and Smithers, who was employed as a personal trainer at the Xtreme Fitness Club in Friars Hill Development.

Witnesses reported that during the confrontation, Wallace Jr., then 38 years old, armed himself with a sharp object and fatally stabbed the 36-year-old Smithers.

Smithers was swiftly transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for urgent medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
