The US Coast Guard recently carried out a successful operation in the eastern Caribbean, intercepting a low-profile go-fast vessel carrying 30 bales of cocaine.

The illicit narcotics weighed over 1,850 pounds and were estimated to have a street value of approximately $24.3 million.

The crew apprehended five suspected smugglers and detained them for prosecution in federal courts by the Department of Justice.

The operation was a result of the exceptional coordination and teamwork of various units, extending beyond the cutter Margaret Norvell, whose commanding officer, Lt. Cmdr.

Colin Weaver, expressed pride in his crew’s efforts. He also highlighted the importance of international and interagency partnerships, which played a crucial role in countering drug trafficking organizations operating throughout the Caribbean.

The successful interdiction of the drug shipment is a significant win against the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, and the US Coast Guard continues to work tirelessly to secure the nation’s borders and prevent dangerous substances from reaching the streets.
